Me gustaría agradecer a mi padre, por estar tantas madrugadas pintando juntos, y por iniciarme en la pintura. A José Ignacio Sánchez Bertolín, de Toledo, España, por enseñarme las técnicas de la pintura.También darle las gracias a la Facul-tad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. I paint cars as a way to represent us in the Western world from the twentieth century on, and for me the car ‘she’ represents the metropolis and the individualism which has come to dominate us.The Project “I Love Petrol” represents the modern world and the different ways we choose to travel. We are able to use the car, a bus, bikes etc. all of them move and make our daily life easier. Cheap flights, train tickets etc. the industry of transport has generated a freedom for our minds and bodies. Smoke and noise has created the city’s atmosphere. The city awakes when the noise starts to create back-ground music in our heads. Different noise makes the soundtrack of our daily life, starting the morning with an alarm, the neighbour screams, the resonance of the washing machine, ring tones of the mobile phone, the door bells from the postman, indicator signs of the red lights, the screeching of car brakes, the burst of acceleration of motorbikes. It’s the movement of these sounds that create the tempo in our life’s rhythm.

Pinto coches como una manera de representar el mundo Occidental del siglo veinte, y para mi el coche representa la metrópolis y el individualismo que nos domina. El Proyecto ‘I Love Petrol’ representa el mundo moderno y las diferentes posibilidades que tenemos para viajar, desde el coche, el autobús, las motocicletas, etc. Todos ellos mueven y facilitan nuestros días, vuelos de avión baratos, tickets de tren, etc.La industria del transporte ha genera-do una libertad en nuestra manera de pensar y de vivir.El ruido y el humo ha creado la atmosfera de las ciudades y cuando el sonido ambiental empieza a retumbar en nuestras mentes, la ciudad despierta.Diferentes sonidos hacen la banda sonora de nuestros vidas, empezan-do por la mañana con el sonido del despertador, los gritos del vecino, la resonancia que hace la lavadora en las paredes, las llamadas al móvil, el cartero llamando al timbre, los vips del semáforo en verde, el chirrido de los frenos de los coches, los acelerones de las motocicletas. Todos estos ruidos son metrónomo que marcan el tempo de nuestras vidas.
