El Gobierno de Canarias dispuso, mediante Decreto 330/2015, de 4 de septiembre, el nombramiento de Ricardo Melchior Navarro como presidente de

la Autoridad Portuaria de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, puesto del que tomó posesión el mes de octubre siguiente.El nuevo presidente de Puertos de Tenerife es un político de larga trayectoria y gran reconocimiento en Canarias, pues fue primero vicepresidente del Cabildo de Tenerife entre 1987 y 1999, año en el que pasó a ocupar la presi-dencia del gobierno insular hasta 2012. También fue se-nador por la isla en la legislatura 2004-2008. Durante sus años en la presidencia del Cabildo insular fue miembro del Consejo de Administración de la Autoridad Portuaria.Sus vínculos con la actividad de los puertos tinerfeños también han sido profesionales: ingeniero industrial por la Universidad de Navarra y también titulado en Ingenie-ría de Economía y Construcción de Máquinas en la Es-cuela Técnica Superior de Aquisgrán, regresó a Tenerife en 1977 para ocupar la dirección de la Compañía Auxiliar del Puerto (CAPSA) desde ese año a 1981.En su extenso currículo, cuenta con importantes recono-cimientos internacionales, como el Doctorado Honoris Causa por la Universidad Nacional de Irlanda; Comenda-dor y Caballero de la Orden Nacional del Mérito de Fran-cia; la Orden de Miranda de primera clase de Venezuela y la Cruz al Mérito Civil de Alemania, entre otros. •••

According to Decree 330/2015, of September 4, the Canary Islands Government appointed Ricardo Melchior Navarro as Chairman of the Port Author-

ity of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, who occupied the post the following month of October.The new Chairman is a politician with a long track re-cord and great recognition in the Canary Islands, as he was the first Vice-President of the Tenerife Island Council from 1987 to 1999, when he took over the island govern-ment presidency until 2012. He was also a Senator for the Island for the period 2004-2008. During his years in the Island Council presidency, he was member of the Port Authority Board of Directors.He has also held professional relationships with Tenerife port activities: after taking a degree in Industrial Engineer-ing at the University of Navarra, and another in Machinery Construction & Economics Engineering at Aachen Higher Technical School, he returned to Tenerife in 1977 to occupy the management position at the Compañía Auxiliar del Puerto (CAPSA) from that year until 1981. His extensive curriculum includes important interna-tional awards, such as the Honorary Doctorate from the National University of Ireland; Knight Commander of the French National Order of Merit; the Order of Miranda in Venezuela, and the Order of Merit of the Federal Repub-lic of Germany, among others. •••

The repair of rigs boosts industrial activity

It led to the repair of a dozen units last year and generated seventy million euros in Tenerife

Las diez plataformas petrolíferas que el año pasado se sometieron a trabajos de reparación naval en

el puerto de Santa Cruz de Tenerife su-pusieron, en términos económicos, la generación para la economía insular de setenta millones de euros, benefi-cios que no sólo repercutieron en la propia Autoridad Portuaria sino espe-cialmente en las empresas de repara-ción naval y de servicios vinculados que tomaron parte en los trabajos.Conscientes de esta realidad, cada vez son más las empresas que se instalan en el puerto capitalino tinerfeño para realizar actividades vinculadas con di-cho subsector, claramente al auge en la instalación y catalizador de la activi-dad industrial portuaria.

Varias son las evidencias que reve-lan esta importante tendencia en el puerto tinerfeño. Por una parte, contar como clientes asiduos con dos de las mayores empresas del sector, TRAN-SOCEAN y ENSCO, con 68 y 49 plata-formas respectivamente distribuidas por todo el mundo.Por otro, la reciente creación de la Asociación Tinerfeña de Reparaciones Navales (ATIREN), cuyas iniciativas, en palabras de sus directivos, “generan un interés creciente en el futuro de las re-paraciones navales y en el crecimiento de la actividad del puerto de la capital tinerfeña”. Así, no solo participa en la promoción de actividades formativas para complementar la formación de sus trabajadores sino también en las desti-

nadas a la promoción internacional del puerto de Tenerife y de las capacidades del mismo en reparaciones navales.ATIREN, que espera superar la veintena de empresas asociadas durante este año, fue una de las entidades presen-tes en la conferencia sobre el futuro del sector impartida en el mes de no-viembre por Taf Powell, vicepresiden-te ejecutivo de la Asociación Interna-cional de Contratistas de Perforación (IADC), sin duda la mayor empresa in-ternacional vinculada al sector.En concreto su intervención versó so-bre la situación del “Oil & Gas” a nivel general, su evolución en el futuro y las oportunidades de colaboración de EE.UU. y Canarias en el ámbito de ser-vicios ligados a la industria.

Nuevo astilleroPero sin duda la actuación más desta-cada en lo que a impulso de las repara-ciones navales en el puerto capitalino se refiere será la operatividad, ya este año, de un nuevo astillero, Tenerife Shipyards, cuyo acto de colocación de primera piedra tuvo lugar el pasado 29 de octubre.Al respecto, Jonathan Pérez manifestó que las obras de la citada infraestruc-tura avanzan sobre el plazo estableci-do, estando previsto que hayan con-cluido, en su primera fase, el próximo mes de mayo. A partir de esa fecha lle-gará el dique flotante que posibilitará las reparaciones navales en tierra.En el astillero, de doce mil metros cua-drados de superficie, se podrán repa-rar grandes buques de hasta 210 me-tros de eslora y 36 de manga, lo que dotará a Tenerife de la mayor capaci-dad de varada de Canarias. Jonathan Pérez avanzó que la insta-lación tendrá capacidad para acoger al año la reparación de hasta 280 bu-ques, ochenta “en seco” y doscientos “en condiciones de flote”.Al acto de colocación de primera pie-dra acudieron, entre otras autorida-des, el presidente del Cabildo de Te-nerife, Carlos Alonso y el alcalde del ayuntamiento capitalino, José Manuel Bermúdez, ejerciendo de anfitrión el titular de la Autoridad Portuaria de la provincia, Ricardo Melchior, quien manifestó que la nueva instalación “duplicará los ingresos que hoy genera la reparación naval de plataformas y buques en el puerto de Tenerife” y que ascendió a 70 millones en 2015. •••

The ten rigs that last year under-went ship repair work in the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife meant,

in economic terms, the generation of seventy million euros for the Island’s economy, profits that not only affected the Port Authority itself, but especially the ship repair and associated services companies taking part in the works. Aware of this reality, increasingly more companies set up business at the Tenerife capital port to engage in ac-tivities related to this subsector, clearly in full expansion at these facilities, and catalyst of the port industrial activity. Several are the facts showing this im-portant trend at the Tenerife port. On the one hand, having as regular cus-tomers two of the major companies in the sector TRANSOCEAN and ENSCO,

with 68 and 49 rigs respectively dis-tributed all over the world. On the other hand, the recent creation of the Tenerife Association of Naval Repairs (ATIREN), whose initiatives, in the words of its directors, “generate growing interest in the future of ship repairs and in the growth of the Tener-ife capital’s port activity”. So, not only does it participate in the promotion of training activities to supplement the training of its workers, but also those targeting the international promotion of the Tenerife port and its ship repair capacities. ATIREN, which expects to exceed the twenty companies associated this year, was one of the associations pre-sent at the Conference on the future of the sector given in November by Taf Powell, Executive Vice-President of the International Association of Drill-ing Contractors (IADC), no doubt the largest international company related to the sector. His speech dealt in particular with the Oil & Gas situation in general, its evo-lution in the future and opportunities for collaboration of the USA and the Canary Islands in the field of the indus-try-related services.

New shipyard But undoubtedly the most outstand-ing aspect boosting ship repairs at the

Tenerife capital port is the construc-tion, from this year, of a new shipyard, Tenerife Shipyards, its foundation stone having been laid on October 29. According to Jonathan Pérez, works on this infrastructure are progressing to schedule, their first phase being expected to be completed in May. As of that date, the floating dock will be available, thus making ship repairs possible on land. At the shipyard, with a surface area of twelve thousand square meters, it will be possible to repair large ships of up to 210 meters long and 36 wide, giving Tenerife the largest beaching capacity in the Canary Islands. Jonathan Pérez pointed out that the facilities will be able to cater for up to 280 vessels a year, eighty “dry dock” and two hundred “floating”. The laying of the first stone was at-tended by many authorities, among whom were the President of Tenerife Island Council, Carlos Alonso, and the Mayor of Tenerife capital, José Manuel Bermúdez, the host being the Chair-man of the province Port Authority, Ricardo Melchior, who said the new fa-cilities “will double the income gener-ated today by rig and ship repair at the Tenerife port”, and which in 2015 was 70 million. •••

Biomca Química S.L., primera planta de fabricación de hi-poclorito sódico en Canarias,

empezará a producir dicho producto para su uso en el todo el archipiélago el próximo mes de marzo. La planta de producción se alza en los terrenos de Zona Franca de Tenerife en su puerto capitalino, encontrándose adscrita la empresa propietaria, de capital cien por cien canario, a la Zona Especial Ca-naria beneficiándose, por ende, de los importantes beneficios fiscales de los que ésta provee.Con una previsión de 1,5 millones de litros mensuales de hipoclorito sódico, la puesta en marcha de esta nueva in-

dustria canaria ha supuesto una inver-sión total superior a los cinco millones de euros y está previsto que genere unos cincuenta puestos de trabajo di-rectos e indirectos.Una de las primeras infraestructuras concluidas antes de fin de año fueron los depósitos de almacenamiento que ya registran una ocupación total de sal pura de mina que será la que se utilice para producir el hipoclorito.Y es que las primeras 3.500 toneladas de sal llegaron al puerto de Santa Cruz de Tenerife en el mes de noviembre procedentes de Holanda, en concreto de Delfzujl, donde la compañía expor-tadora cuenta con su propio muelle

dedicado en exclusiva a la exportación de sal pura de mina.De acuerdo con Miguel Valcárcel, uno de los administradores de la compa-ñía, en España no existe este tipo de sal tan pura, idónea para la producción de hipoclorito sódico y que “el hecho de tener la sal almacenada algunos meses no supone deterioro alguno, más allá de un posible apelmazamiento que no afecta a su calidad”.Biomca Química, S.L. es una sociedad limitada con capital cien por cien ca-nario. con un tercer socio inversor, Liborio Barroso Barrera “Biomca Química, S.L.” cuenta en el puerto de Santa Cruz de Tenerife con una parcela de 3.872 me-tros cuadrados en el puerto capitalino tinerfeño destinada a la instalación de una fábrica de hipoclorito sódico.Dicha parcela se ubica en los rellenos de la Dársena Pesquera, habiéndose otorgado la concesión correspondien-te a su ocupación por un periodo de veinticinco años.

Primera piedra Con fecha 28 de octubre de 2015 se ce-lebró el acto de colocación de primera piedra de las instalaciones de Biom-ca en el puerto tinerfeño. Entre otras autoridades acudieron el presidente del Gobierno de Canarias, Fernando Clavijo; el titular del Cabildo de Tene-rife, Carlos Alonso; el presidente de Puertos de Tenerife, Ricardo Melchior; la delegada del Gobierno en Canarias, María del Carmen Hernández Bento y el alcalde de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez. •••

Biomca Química S.L., the first sodium hypochlorite manufac-ture plant in the Canary Islands,

will start manufacturing this product for its use all over the archipelago this March. The production plant is located in the Tenerife Free Zone at Tenerife capital’s port, the owning company, with one hundred per cent Canary Island capital, being attached to the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC), and therefore benefiting from important tax reliefs. With an estimated monthly produc-tion of 1.5 million liters of sodium hypochlorite, the launch of this new Canary Island industry has entailed a total investment of more than five mil-lion euros and is expected to generate around fifty direct and indirect jobs. One of the first infrastructures com-pleted before the end of the year, were the storage tanks that already register a total occupation of pure mine salt, which will be used to produce the hy-pochlorite. The first 3,500 tons of salt arrived at the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in November from Holland, specifically Delfzujl, where the export company has its own quay exclusively dedicated to the export of pure mine salt. According to Miguel Valcárcel, one of the company directors, Spain does not have this type of pure salt, ideal for the production of sodium hypochlorite,

and “the fact of having the salt stored for a few months does not imply any deterioration, except for its possible caking that does not affect its quality”. Biomca Química, S.L. is a limited com-pany with 100% Canary Island capital, created in 2014 by the association of two other companies: INCOCAN Ser-vicios Integrales, S.L. and SOTEC, Solu-ciones Técnicas Canarias, along with a third investor, Liborio Barroso. Bar-rera “Biomca Química, S.L.” has at the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife a 3,872 square meter plot for the installation of a sodium hypochlorite plant.This plot is located at the Fishing Dock, its concession having been granted for a period of twenty five years.

Empresas tinerfeñas se vinculan al desarrollo del Corredor Franco del Atlántico Medio Tenerife companies linked to the development of the Mid-Atlantic Free Trade Corridor

Ricardo Melchior Navarro, en su condición de presidente de la Zona Franca de Tenerife, firmó el

pasado 4 de diciembre el Convenio de Adhesión del Corredor Franco del At-lántico Medio por el que las empresas tinerfeñas Biomca, Tenerife Shipyards, Alfaship y Canarship se incorporan ac-tivamente a la citada iniciativa. En el acto, Melchior resaltó la importancia de que la iniciativa privada apoye y participe en un proyecto que profun-diza en el papel de la isla como nexo de unión en el intercambio entre Amé-rica, Europa y África.La firma del convenio, en la que tam-bién estuvo presente Gustavo González de Vega, delegado especial de la Zona Franca de Tenerife, supuso la culmi-nación de la jornada de clausura del Atlantic Free Zones Forum en la capital tinerfeña. El encuentro cumplió con sus expectativas de asistencia, completan-do el aforo de 150 participantes nacio-nales e internacionales y en el que tuvo especial relevancia la presencia de las representaciones centroamericanas.Todos los expertos reunidos en este encuentro concluyeron que la presen-cia y participación de la Zona Franca de Tenerife en el Corredor Franco del Atlántico Medio es ya una realidad en la que Tenerife se sitúa cono nodo fundamental para articular la conecti-vidad entre América, África y Europa. Esto se debe, según resaltan, a que es un territorio europeo en la costa del continente africano que cuenta con importantes beneficios fiscales, tribu-tarios y arancelarios. Además, la seme-janza de estas ventajas con las de las zonas francas americanas facilita la im-plantación y desarrollo de iniciativas empresariales de aquel continente en la isla.

Gustavo González de Vega destacó que Tenerife va a ocupar un papel principal en el comercio Sur-Sur y que la celebración de este encuentro con-tribuye a definir el papel de las zonas francas del Corredor Atlántico y a esta-blecer las estrategias comunes con el objetivo de optimizar su acción e im-plicar a las empresas. •••

On December 4, Ricardo Mel-chior Navarro, acting as Chair-man of the Tenerife Free Zone,

signed the Mid-Atlantic Free Trade Corridor Accession Convention, by which the Tenerife companies Biomca, Tenerife Shipyards, Alfaship and Ca-narship actively join the mentioned initiative. Melchior stressed the impor-tance for private initiative to support and participate in a project that high-lights the Island’s role as an interface in the exchange between America, Eu-rope, and Africa. The signing of the agreement, also at-tended by Gustavo González de Vega, special delegate for the Tenerife Free Zone, marked the culmination of the last day of the Atlantic Free Zones Fo-

rum at the Tenerife capital, meeting all expectations in terms of attendance, the event being fully attended with 150 national and international partici-pants, Central American representa-tions taking special relevance. All the experts gathered at this event agreed that the presence and par-ticipation of the Tenerife Free Zone in the Mid-Atlantic Free Trade Corridor is now a reality, where Tenerife is key for articulating connectivity between America, Africa and Europe. They say this is due to it being a Europe-an territory on the coast of the African continent that has important tax and customs benefits. In addition, the simi-larity of these advantages with those of the American free trade zones makes the implementation and development of entrepreneurial initiatives from that continent on the Island easier. Gustavo González de Vega pointed out that Tenerife will take a leading role in South-South trade and that the holding of this event contributes to defining the role of the free zones in the Atlantic Corridor and to establish common strategies in order to opti-mize action and engage companies. •••

El puerto de Santa Cruz de Tene-rife cuenta desde el pasado 3 de octubre con seis grúas súper

post-panamax después de que Termi-nal de Contenedores de Tenerife (TCT) haya adquirido tres más para operar en su concesión del Dique del Este, in-corporación que se traduce para la ins-talación capitalina en una importante ventaja competitiva al tiempo que po-sibilita al terminalista un incremento de rentabilidad. Esta impresionante maquinaria cuenta con las mismas características técnicas que las tres grúas de su categoría ante-riormente operativas en la citada ter-minal y que permiten a la estibadora operar megabuques de hasta catorce mil Teus de capacidad.Las tres cabrias llegaron a la instala-ción procedentes de Ámsterdam, de donde salieron el 18 de septiembre atoadas por un remolcador de altura como ya lo hicieran sus “hermanas” el pasado noviembre de 2012.Cuentan con 26,5 metros de longitud, 34 de anchura a nivel de suelo, 112 de altura con la pluma en posición verti-cal y alcanzan 1.450 toneladas de re-gistro bruto. Ofrecen una capacidad de elevación de ochenta toneladas bajo gancho y un alcance en el mar de 61 metros bajo gancho de 36.La concesión de TCT en la Dársena del Este del puerto capitalino tinerfeño cuenta con una plataforma de 152.804

Since October 3, the Port of Santa Cruz has six Super Post-Panamax cranes, after Tenerife

Container Terminal (TCT) has ac-quired three more for operation at its East Dock concession, an addition meaning an important competitive advantage for the Tenerife facilities, thus increasing the terminal opera-tor’s rentability. This impressive machinery has the same technical characteristics as the three cranes already operating at the terminal, thanks to which the ship-ping company can handle mega-ships with a capacity of up to four-teen thousand TEUs. The three cranes left Amsterdam on September 18 towed by a tugboat like their “sisters” in November, 2012. They are 26.5 meters long, 34 wide at ground level, 112 high with the jib in upright position and weigh 1,450 gross registered tons. They offer a lifting capacity of eighty tons under hook and at sea 61 meters under hook 36. The TCT concession at the Port of Ten-erife East Dock has a rig of 152,804 square meters linked to a berthing line of 697 meters and sixteen meters draught. •••

esta ocasión como solistas invitados con la soprano Iwona Sovotka, el tenor Agustín Prunell-Friend, y el barítono Augusto Brito. Junto a ellos, el Coro de la Ópera de Tenerife y el Coro Polifóni-co Universitario de la Universidad de La Laguna.

The Puertos de Tenerife Christ-mas Concert may be consid-ered without any doubt the

cultural high point of December 25 on the Canary Islands. Performed in its twenty-two editions by the Ten-erife Symphony Orchestra, on this

occasion it featured as guest soloists the soprano Iwona Sovotka, the tenor Agustín Prunell-Friend, and the bari-tone Augusto Brito. Accompanying them were the Tenerife Opera Choir and the University of La Laguna Poly-phonic Choir.

All conducted by Michal Nesterowicz, masterfully performing “Carmina Bura-na”, a work previously selected for the 1996 concert. Twenty thousand people enjoyed it live, broadcast by La2 of TVE; nineteen thousand viewers •••

Tenerife contará desde el próxi-mo mes de agosto con una nue-va terminal de cruceros de 8.500

metros cuadrados que integrará las funciones de chequeo, control, espera de pasajeros, distribución de maletas y locales comerciales, además de áreas de aparcamiento para guaguas, taxis y aprovisionamiento, entre otros ser-vicios.

Dicha infraestructura supondrá para Tenerife el necesario avance para po-sicionar sus instalaciones de atención a este tipo de tráfico entre las más vanguardistas de su zona de influen-cia, mejorando además la calidad del servicio prestado y con innovaciones que ayudan a motivar su visita a la isla.Por otro lado, la novedosa construc-ción será un elemento más de los que

contribuyan a materializar la unión entre el puerto y la ciudad, objetivo que persigue la Autoridad Portuaria de Santa Cruz de Tenerife como parte de su política de relación de los puer-tos con los núcleos urbanos en que se integran, en este caso de la capital ti-nerfeña.Dicho objetivo fue ratificado reciente-mente por Gustavo Berenblum, uno

From next August, Tenerife will have a new 8,500-square meter cruise terminal integrating the

functions of check-in, control, passen-ger waiting area, luggage distribution and commercial premises, as well as parking areas for buses, taxis and sup-plies, among other services. For Tenerife that infrastructure will mean the necessary progress to posi-tion its facilities dealing with this type of traffic as among the most avant-garde in its area of influence, thus improving the quality of the services provided and with innovations that help to encourage visitors to come the Island.

On the other hand, the new construc-tion will be another element contrib-uting to materialize the port-city un-ion; an aim pursued by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Port Authority as part of its policy for connecting ports with town urban centers, in this case the capital of Tenerife. This objective was recently ratified by Gustavo Berenblum, one of the archi-tects and founder of the BBA studio, responsible for the terminal construc-tion consultancy services, who also as-sured that, with the capacity to handle up to ten thousand cruise passengers in at the operational port base, “the Port of Tenerife will be one of the few European ports offering this capacity”. The cruise terminal, financed with Co-hesion Funds, will be operational in September, the month in which the capital of Tenerife will host the elev-enth edition of Seatrade Cruise Med, the most important international cruise event in Europe.•••

La construcción de cajones llega a su fin Caisson construction coming to an end

A finales del mes de marzo, si no hay imprevistos que lo im-pidan, concluirá la fabricación

de cajones para el dique exterior del puerto de Granadilla al quedar sólo seis por construirse de un total de 32. Estos cajones serán trasladados a Gra-nadilla para su ubicación definitiva de-pendiendo de las condiciones del mar y del avance de la banqueta de apoyo de los mismos. Actualmente el todo uno de banqueta se encuentra en el P.K. 1+750 y se avanza en el relleno de los cajones del dique exterior fondea-dos en su ubicación definitiva.En la obra emergida destacar que se está trabajando en la protección de la unión entre el dique en talud Norte y el arranque del dique vertical. Parale-lamente se trabaja en el avance del es-paldón del dique en talud Norte.Las obras de abrigo del puerto de Gra-nadilla cuentan con financiación euro-pea en Fondos de Cohesión. •••

A t the end of March, if no un-foreseen event occurs, the manufacture of caissons for

the Port of Granadilla breakwater

will be completed, as only six are left to build from a total of 32. These caissons will be taken to Gra-nadilla for their final location de-pending on sea conditions and the progress in their bedding layer. At present, the bedding layer is at P.K. (kilometric point) 1+750 and pro-gress is being made in filling the breakwater caissons anchored in their final location.

As for the emerged work, works are being carried out on the pro-tection of the connection between the breakwater on the North bank and the vertical seawall base. At the same time, works are progressing on the North bank breakwater shoul-der.The Port of Granadilla protection works are financed by European Co-hesion Funds.

Uno de los grandes proyectos que impulsa la nueva presi-dencia de la Autoridad Portua-

ria de Santa Cruz es la creación de un museo sobre los puertos y la navega-ción en la provincia, proyecto que está empezando a caminar y coger forma vinculado a la restauración del correí-llo La Palma, un vapor que realizó las

travesías interinsulares y que fue cons-truido, junto al Viera y Clavijo y León y Castillo, en Gran Bretaña en torno a 1912. El propósito de esta iniciativa de Puertos de Tenerife es desarrollar un centro en el que se exponga la cultu-ra marítima en todos sus aspectos en el entorno del muelle Norte de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, donde permanece

atracado y se conserva el citado correí-llo gracias al esfuerzo del Cabildo de Tenerife y a la fundación dedicada a su preservación. •••

One of the major projects pro-moted by the new Chairman of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz

is the creation of a museum about the province’s ports and shipping, a project already under way and taking shape, linked to the restoration of the steam-ship “La Palma”, which used to make inter-island voyages and that was built, along with “Viera y Clavijo” and “León y Castillo”, in Great Britain around 1912. The aim of this Puertos de Tenerife initia-tive is to create a centre for the exhibition of maritime culture in all its aspects in the area of Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s North Quay, where this steamship is berthed and preserved thanks to the efforts of the Tenerife Island Council and the Foun-dation dedicated to its conservation. •••

La marina del puerto de La Es-taca, en El Hierro, entró en funcionamiento a principios

de noviembre albergando a un total de trece veleros y unas 120 personas, todos ellos competidores del Rally Náutico Canaries-Odyssey iniciado en la isla de Lanzarote.La llegada de estos veleros supuso la ocupación prácticamente en su inte-gridad de los quince atraques dispo-nibles, por ahora, en la marina de La Estaca para veleros de entre doce y diecisiete metros de eslora. •••

La Estaca Port Marina, on El Hierro, became operational in early November, catering for

thirteen boats and around 120 people, all competitors of the Canaries-Odyssey Sailing Rally which started on the island of Lanzarote. The arrival of these boats

meant the occupation of nearly all the fifteen berths currently available at La Estaca Marina for boats twelve to sev-enteen meters long. •••

Los marinas de dependientes de Puertos de Tenerife están siendo elegidas, cada vez con

mayor frecuencia, como puntos de partida de importantes regatas tra-satlánticas, objetivo perseguido por los gestores de dicha entidad.Las más recientes han sido, además del Rally Náutico Canaries-Odyssey, la Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, re-gata a remo con destino en Barbados que partió del puerto de La Gomera el pasado 15 de diciembre; desde el puerto de Santa Cruz de Tenerife hizo lo propio la Atlantic Odyssey 2016, a principios de enero, hacia Martinica.•••

Puertos de Tenerife marinas are increasingly being chosen as the starting points for impor-

tant transatlantic regattas, aim pur-sued by the company’s managers.

The most recent ones have been, apart from the Canaries-Odyssey Sail-ing Rally, the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, rowing race ending in Bar-bados that left the Port of La Gomera

on December 15; in early January, the 2016 Atlantic Odyssey left the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife head-ing towards Martinique.•••

El Bar-Cafetería Estación Maríti-ma, ubicado en el Edificio Puer-to-Ciudad, presta este año una

importante colaboración interna con el programa de educación ambiental Conoce Nuestro Puerto, destinado a

los escolares de la provincia con el objetivo de que conozcan las instala-ciones y servicios que se prestan en el puerto capitalino.En concreto, ofrecen el servicio de desayuno a aproximadamente 250 niños y profesores acompañantes cada semana, comida que sin duda es de agradecer para una jornada es-colar estrictamente portuaria. •••

This year the Bar-Cafetería Esta-ción Marítima, located in the Edificio Puerto-Ciudad, colla-

borates internally with the environ-mental education program “Know our Port”, targeting schoolchildren in the province so they may know the facilities and services provided at the capital’s Port. In particular, every week they offer a breakfast service for approxima-tely 250 children and accompanying teachers, with no doubt something they are grateful for on a strictly port school day. •••
