Hi my Brothers and Sisters!
Hope all is well with everyone. We need you all at the Post.
We are counting down the days for this year. Except for a little pause in my duties, we have had a great year. Dinners have been going well and I have been having a lot of fun with our patrons. They are all so sweet and kind.
We are going to have a “Mother’s Day Brunch” on May 12th at noon. All mothers are free. Others will be $9.00. If anyone is willing to help, please let me know as soon as possible.
I can’t say enough. I have the best team ever! Thank you is not enough.

To My Family & Friends, I want to thank everyone who came to my 80th birthday
party at the Post. It was wonderful to see you all and I want to let you all know that you made my day very special. With such a crowd, I found it impossible to send individual thank you notes, so I hope this will let you all know just how unforgettable you made my birthday! Thank you all.

Congressional Medal of HonorRichard Beatty Anderson
Citation
For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving with the 4th
Marine Division during action against enemy Japanese forces on Roi Island, Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands, 1 February 1944. Entering a shell crater occupied by 3 other marines, Pfc. Anderson was preparing to throw a grenade at an enemy position when it slipped from his hands and rolled toward the men at the bottom of the hole. With insufficient time to retrieve the armed weapon and throw it, Pfc. Anderson fearlessly chose to sacrifice himself and save his companions by hurling his body upon the grenade and taking the full impact of the explosion. His personal valor and exceptional spirit of loyalty in the face of almost certain death were in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service. He gallantly gave his life for his country.**************************************************
Memorial Day this year is especially important as we are reminded almost daily of the great sacrifices that the men and women of the Armed Services make to defend our way of life.********************************************

In Flanders’ Fields
In Flanders’ fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
loved, and were loved, and now we lie
in Flanders’ fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch, be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders’ fields.

Sisters & Brothers,
Summer is right around the corner and I imagineour “snowbirds” are heading North. We will miss you.
I would guess most of us are snowbirds that stayed around to enjoy the lovely weather and delight in missing the snow in April that they are having in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
I have sent 3 get well cards, 1 sympathy card and 1 thinking of you card. I’d ask if you want me to send a get well card, please tell me the purpose as I want to send an appropriate message.
Again, my number is 489-1683. If I am out or don’t answer immediately, please leave a message. I try to screen my calls as I am tired of the robo calls. How about you?
God Bless All,
Donna Carpenter, Chaplain dcarpenter27@tampabay.rr.com352-489-1683
