El PGA Tour va por libre en los controles antidopaje No cumplen la normativa de la AMA y eso levanta sospechas 23 noviembre 2016| golfdigest.es

Las críticas a la política de pruebas contra el dopaje por parte del PGA Tour han ido en constante aumento. El mini-aluvión de opiniones en contra tomó impulso cuando el director de la Agencia Mundial Antidopaje (AMA), David Howman, declaró en la web Golf.com que el programa del Circuito Americano tiene "lagunas" porque, a diferencia del Circuito Europeo, no sigue las directrices de la AMA.

Esto incluye específicamente la realización de una prueba de sangre que puede detectar la HGH (hormona de crecimiento) mientras que las pruebas del PGA Tour sólo utilizan muestras de orina. Asimismo, Howman también fue muy crítico sobre la forma "secreta" que tiene el PGA Tour a la hora de establecer sanciones.

Antes estas declaraciones, el vicepresidente de comunicación del PGA Tour, Ty Votaw, señaló que otros organismos como NFL, MLB, NBA o NHL tampoco siguen las directrices de la AMA, y defendió la política del circuito a la hora de anunciar positivos y sanciones.

Precisamente, unas semanas antes John Daly declaró en su programa de radio que las pruebas aleatorias del PGA Tour eran “una broma” y unos días después Robert Garrigus dijo a Tim Rosaforte en Golf World que él siempre ha pasado las pruebas en los mismos tres torneos, añadiendo que el sistema no es aleatorio sino “alfabético”.

Votaw se reafirmó en que las pruebas son aleatorias y dijo que las palabras de ambos jugadores eran incorrectas. En cualquier caso, en los Juegos Olímpicos de Río de Janeiro, todos los competidores estuvieron bajo las directrices de la AMA.

Por suerte, no hubo ninguna sorpresa desagradable que sepamos. De momento.

El fondista leonés Sergio Sánchez ha anunciado en rueda de prensa que recurrirá ante el Tribunal de Arbitraje Deportivo su ausencia en la lista de la selección Española para el Campeonato de Europa de campo a través. Según ha informado la Cadena SER, Sánchez, entre lágrimas, se ha mostrado muy decepcionado por la decisión de la Real Federación Española de Atletismo y asegura que “buscará justicia” en el TAS porque para él “este es un caso de maltrato”. “Estoy seguro de que me darán la razón”, expone. “Es digno de una película de miedo. Detrás de un deportista hay una persona con un hijo y una casa. Necesito estar en la selección española para poder vivir del atletismo”, ha explicado el leonés.

Además, el corredor que cumplió su sanción de dos años por dopaje a finales de noviembre de 2015, ha cargado duramente contra el director técnico de la Real Federación Española de Atletismo, Ramón Cid, al que acusa de “fallar a los valores del deporte” y de “cometer el mayor atropello de la historia del atletismo en España”.

Sánchez, según recoge SportLeon, reconoce que el encargado de las pruebas de campo a través, José Ríos, le había incluido en la lista inicial, pero que Cid le ha apartado por “no integrarse en el equipo”. “Esa es su única explicación para joderme la vida, si quiere que me dé una guitarra, canto canciones y hago reír a la gente”, comenta irónicamente. “Es el mismo que se cuelga méritos por una medalla de Bruno Hortelano, que no sabe ni quién es, ni que se entrena en Estados Unidos. Él está ahí porque es amigo de no sé quién”, concluye. “Es cuestión de humanidad, respeto y valores del deporte. Hace poco falleció Yago Lamela y otros deportistas y hay que hurgar detrás de una herida porque quizás hay una Federación matando a un deportista”

El atleta del CAR la Robla ha querido destacar que en las tres pruebas de clasificación, Atapuerca, Soria y Alcobendas (en las que finalizó, cuarto, primero y segundo respectivamente), ha pasado dos controles antidopaje y que ha sido el único de los seis integrantes de la selección al que han sometido a estos controles. “Quieren cazarme, pero yo he vuelto para demostrar que puedo correr sin dopaje”, argumenta

Federación de Atletismo abre "portal seguro" para denuncias de dopaje

Atletismo (IAAF, por sus siglas en inglés) presentó un "portal seguro en línea" para

recibir todo tipo de información sobre denuncias por dopaje dentro de este deporte

alrededor del mundo.

"El mensaje es claro, si usted sabe algo sobre el dopaje en el atletismo, la IAAF quiere

escuchar cualquier información que pueda tener", afirma el organismo a través de un

comunicado.

En su lucha por defender a los atletas "limpios" de sustancias dopantes, el organismo

internacional señala que si alguien tiene conocimiento sobre pruebas, o en su defecto,

sospechas de dopaje, es necesario ingresar al portal para dar aviso de dicha situación.

"Pruebas o sospechas de dopaje, información de los entrenadores y personal de

apoyo como alentadores, el tráfico de sustancias prohibidas y nuevos productos

dopantes", son algunos de los temas que pide denunciar en dicho sitio.

"Toda la información recibida será sujeta a la evaluación profesional de acuerdo con

los modelos de inteligencia reconocida internacionalmente", explica la IAAF.

El británico Sebastian Coe, presidente del organismo, explicó que "la más pequeña

pieza de información podría ser vital para ayudar a proteger la integridad de la

competencia y la igualdad de condiciones. Debemos estar en lo más alto para los

atletas 'limpios'"

El atleta Sergio Sánchez arremetió duramente este martes contra la Real Federación

Esañola de Atletismo (RFEA) y su director técnico, Ramón Cid, por la decisión de

dejarlo fuera de la selección que competirá el próximo 11 de diciembre en el

Campeonato de Europa de Cross que se celebrará en Chia (Italia). El leonés dijo que

recurrirá al Tribunal de Arbitraje Deportivo (TAS) por lo que considera el "mayor

atropello de la historia del deporte en una selección", según recoge 'Leonnoticias'.

Sánchez, 34 años, cree que debería estar en la selección gracias a sus buenos

resultados en los tres cross de selección, el de Soria, donde ganó; el de Atapuerca,

donde acabó en cuarta posición; y el de Alcobendas, donde fue segundo. En cambio,

la RFEA convocó a Antonio Abadía, José España, Ilias Fifa, Javier García del Barrio,

Ayad Lamdassem y Adel Mechaal. Según Sánchez, el seleccionador, José Ríos, le

dijo que sí estaba en su lista y que no entendía por qué no estaba en la selección

final. "Hoy me han dejado patente que hay una dictadura en esta Federación con la

que es imposible luchar", aseguró. El veto a Sergio Sánchez es la primera decisión

importante de la presidencia de Raúl Chapado, que el sábado fue elegido

presidente de la RFEA.

Para el atleta, el responsable de todo es Ramón Cid, director técnico de la federación.

"José Ríos me dice que el director técnico llevaba dos o tres días sin dormir para ver

de qué forma me podía sacar de la selección (...) Está claro que no soy de su agrado,

no me quiere. Me está realizando un maltrato que es digno de una película de miedo",

declaró Sánchez, que también dijo que tras el deportista hay una persona y que

necesita correr para vivir. Además, fue mucho más allá en su comparecencia y pidió

que esclarezcan algunos casos de suicidios. "Hace poco falleció Yago Lamela y otros

deportistas. Deberíamos de hugar todos en la herida y saber qué es lo que pasa

detrás de esos suicidios o de esas muertes. Tal vez hay una Federación matando al

deportista", dijo.

"Me dicen que me sacan de la selección porque no me integro en el equipo. Si

quiere que me dé una guitarra y le canto canciones y hago reír a la gente"

"Él está ahí porque es amigo de no sé quién y viene a cargarse mi ilusión y le

preguntaría por qué me saca de una selección en la que me he ganado mi puesto

por mi esfuerzo. Me dicen que me sacan de la selección porque no me integro en el

equipo. Si quiere que me dé una guitarra y le canto canciones y hago reír a la gente. Y

esa es su única explicación para joderme la vida. Estamos hablando de valores del

deporte y el primero que falla es él", continuó Sánchez contra Cid. Con lágrimas en los

ojos, Sánchez, que ha vuelto a competir en 2016 tras dos años de sanción, dijo que ha

querido demostrar que puede correr "sin ningún tipo de dopaje puede volver a correr y

ser el mejor", pero que no hay cosas que no puede controlar, como sentarse "con un

hombre, que tal vez sea alcohólico, y decirle que no me meto nada, que estoy

corriendo, que estoy ganando, ¿por qué si no me conoces me sacas de la selección?".

El atleta asegura que tiene miedo por lo que le pueda pasar y que está colaborando "al

máximo" con la Agencia Española de Protección de la Salud en el Deporte (AEPSAD).

"Soy el único atleta español que ha pasado esos controles que ninguno más de

la selección ha pasado. Lo asumo porque quiero demostrar que sin dopaje se puede

correr. Tonto sería si me dopara, pero la sensación que me da es que estoy jodido

aunque tengo la conciencia muy tranquila. Vivo con miedo. En Alcobendas dejé la

mochila en la caseta con las de los demás atletas y tiré la botella de agua que tenía

porque vi salir a dos personas desconocidas de esa caseta", explicó.

Una carrera llena de polémicas

"No quiero pensar en que no me vayan a seleccionar. Hablando con la Federación ya

me han asegurado que estaré en el equipo", dijo este mismo lunes en una entrevista

con la agencia 'Efe'. "He pasado por momentos muy difíciles y para mí volver a la

selección española ya es un logro. Quiero ser un nuevo Sergio, que guste, de buen

comportamiento y sin salidas de tono", contó. Pero vista su reacción de este

martes, poco ha cambiado.

La trayectoria de Sánchez, subcampeón mundial de pista cubierta de los 3.000 metros

en 2010, está salpicada de polémicas, y no por el positivo por EPO en el Campeonato

de España de 2013, lo que le hizo ganarse una sanción de dos años. En 2011 había

sido expedientado por la RFEA por unas declaraciones contra Jaime Lissavetzky,

entonces secretario de Estado para el Deporte, en las que lamentaba no tener una

beca ADO. Ese mismo año había arremetido también contra Alemayehu Bezabeh, que

había dado positivo. "Me da vergüenza vestir la camiseta de la selección española",

dijo, antes que había tenido "impunidad para doparse todo lo quiso y más".

Méndez de Vigo aboga por adecuar Ley Deporte y promoción integral deportista

Madrid, 29 nov (EFE).- El ministro de Educación, Cultura y Deporte, Íñigo Méndez de Vigo, explicó en el Senado que sus objetivos para esta legislatura incluyen adecuar la Ley de 1990, la promoción integral del deportista y apoyar al deporte de base y aceptó el planteamiento socialista de un pacto por el deporte.

"Creo que es bueno que nos unamos. Recojo su mano tendida y cuente con que el Gobierno va a tenerlo en cuenta, porque eso es lo que nos demanda la sociedad española. Si consigo estos años volver a repetir lo que he visto en los Juegos de Río, que al deporte español se le tiene respeto por su calidad y aprecio por lo que vale, haremos una buena cosa", afirmó.

Méndez de Vigo respondió así a la pregunta del senador socialista Juan Luis Soto sobre las líneas generales de la política del Gobierno en Deporte, quien afirmó que "el actual modelo deportivo está dando síntomas de crisis de agotamiento, está perdiendo la forma y necesita modernizarse", además de pedir un pacto por el deporte en España.

"A mi los pactos me gustan pero me van a llamar pactista. En la legislatura pasada conseguimos notables avances en la lucha contra el dopaje; la mejora de la transparencia, gobernanza y eficiencia en las federaciones deportivas y la mejora en las cuentas; la ayuda a la inclusión de las personas con discapacidad y la potenciación de la igualdad y visibilidad de la mujer. Consolidar estos avances es una prioridad", añadió.

El portavoz del Gobierno insistió en que "el deporte es un ingrediente fundamental en la educación y la cultura, que sirve para sentirse bien y para educar en valores" y enumeró sus objetivos para esta legislatura, entre ellos la "adecuación de la Ley del Deporte de 1990 a la nueva realidad social y a los nuevos retos".

El senador socialista, Juan Luis Soto, consideró que "el deporte en España es un pilar del estado de bienestar, es sinónimo de lucha contra la desigualdad, es integración, educación en valores convivencia, salud, creación de empleo, ya que representa un 2,5% del PIB, y también marca España".

"Le propongo un pacto y que sumemos esfuerzos con cinco objetivos: reformar la ley y contar con un nuevo marco normativo para el deporte profesional; ordenar el ejercicio de las profesiones en el deporte; que adaptemos la normativa sobre dopaje a la internacional; garantizar la financiación no solo a través de subvenciones sino de incentivos fiscales en la inversión privada también y garantizar el fomento de programas a través del deporte", dijo.

El portavoz socialista en la cámara Alta insistió en que "si para el Gobierno el deporte es de interés general" del ministro debería poner en marcha ese pacto y garantizar "las ayudas a deportistas y federaciones en los presupuestos generales del Estado para 2017". EFE

European Sport Ministers are set to debate ways to more effectively tackle doping at a conference in Hungary’s capital city Budapest tomorrow.

The biennial Conference of Ministers Responsible for Sport will focus on the topic of "the fight against doping and match-fixing".

It has been organised by the Council of Europe under its Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) - a major cooperation partnership but one which does not include all its member states.

It is aimed at more effectively combating doping, promoting implementation of the Convention on match-fixing and fostering good governance in sport.

Representatives from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the sports movement will be present at the Conference.

Statements will also be given by the Council of Europe, the Hungarian Government and the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth.

Discussions will then be held on working "towards better governance in sport through enhanced co-operation between Governmental bodies and stakeholders in sport."

Possible improvements to the transparency of anti-doping procedures and the safeguarding of WADA’s independence have been suggested as questions which will be debated by those present.

A "protocol of agreement" between the Council of Europe and WADA is set to be signed at the conclusion of the Conference.

The Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions and the Convention on an Integrated Safety, Security and Service Approach at football matches and other sports events are also set to be signed.

WADA vice-president Linda Helleland will be among those taking part in the conference, with the Norwegian Sports Minister chosen for the post at their Foundation Board meeting in Glasgow earlier this month.

• Evidence or suspicions of doping

• Knowledge of coaches and support personnel encouraging doping

• Trafficking of prohibited substances

• New doping products

Every piece of information, no matter how small, is important and may be crucial in uncovering doping. The more information you provide, the more likely it is that your information can be successfully followed up.

We used to sit on the couch and cringe every time a super athlete would emerge from Eastern Europe or Northern Asia. We shared in such distaste every time we watched an athlete step up to receive a medal we had labelled a cheater based on assumption.

The Western world united a few years back when we saw the size of the shoulders in the female Chinese swim team. It was once a practise that we took great pride in, that our athletes in the Western sphere were clean.

Fast forward to modern day and the sporting landscape is in the biggest mess since its gradual transition in to the professional era.

The world loves a great sporting story, there's no greater adversity test than that on the sporting field. Every Monday around the world we share our weekend stories of sports and great moments.

This pastime is in serious jeopardy as the truth about modern sports and sporting achievements emerge from the crusty hole they have been stuffed down over the past few decades.

Here's a brief list of historic moments spoiled by Performance Enhancing Drugs, Ben Johnson one hundred metre Olympic Gold. Marion Jones, her whole career. Baseball – Barry Bonds all-time home runs record holder. Lance Armstrong seen as perhaps the greatest athlete of all time with seven Tour De France wins. Shane Warne the master of tweak and the greatest ever leg spinner tested positive on the eve of the 2003 Cricket World Cup. The Pride of Great Britain Lindford Christie tested positive to a banned steroid in 1999.

Behind the scenes

When we think of sports we think of the players and teams we love, we often overlook and mostly are just unaware of how the business of professional actually works.

The behind the scenes teams of staff run the performance aspects of most sports. Many clubs have a department called "sports science". Most clubs not only have this department they also have many subcontractors come in on short terms visits to evaluate and make sure the clubs are getting the most out of their athletes bodies.

Although not a new concept, sports science has grown in epic proportions around the world. So much so that the average Joe who plays for the local side in a social setting on the weekends now has access to some very advanced sports science methods.

Teams everywhere are desperate to get the edge of rivals, often this leads to new methods of sports science training and development. There is a very open "grey area" in sports science where new techniques and methods are yet to be evaluated in the short and long term safety and benefit for the athlete.

Most athletes are given a management plan for their development from their sports science department at the club they play for. It's safe to say this is probably the safest way to go for athletes looking to stay away from banned substances.

The development of athletes using banned substances comes from where athletes you're their personal management team to set a physiological plan for the bodies. This is outside the management of the team they are playing for. This is perhaps the biggest mistake made by athletes and sports agents in America's professional sporting history.

Rune Andersen, head of the Taskforce dealing with Russia’s suspension from track and field competition, will deliver his latest report to the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on Thursday (December 1) during the second day of the Council meeting here.

It would be a big surprise if there were a major announcement on the position given that Richard McLaren’s second and concluding report for the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on the subject of Russian doping transgressions will be made public in London on December 9.

McLaren’s final report – the initial findings of which were released in July, shortly before the Rio Olympics - is expected to deal with allegations made about a state-sponsored scheme of doping operated at the 2014 Sochi Winter Games which implicated up to 15 Russian medal winners.

He is also thought to be exploring allegations of similar activities at other events held in Russia, including the 2013 IAAF World Athletics Championships and 2015 World Swimming Championships in Moscow and Kazan respectively.

WADA recommended Russia be handed a blanket ban from Rio 2016 as a result of the allegations, although the International Olympic Committee (IOC) rejected this and instead handed responsibility to individual International Federations.

The IAAF, however, decided to suspend Russian track and field athletes from competition last November on the advice of the Taskforce it had established to look into doping allegations, and it upheld the suspension in June.

In the wake of the IAAF ban on Russian athletes, the 2018 IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships were removed from their original venue in Chebksary in Russia and the Council will now consider the bid put forward by the Chinese city of Taicang.

Meanwhile Aarhus, in Denmark, has bid for the 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships.

There are no opposing bids in either case.

Saturday’s (December 3) Special IAAF Congress will involve more than 200 representatives of every member organisation, voting on the major governance structure reform proposals approved by the IAAF Council during the Rio Olympics.

Delegates in Monaco will be asked to vote on two constitutions - one to be implemented next year and the other to take effect from 2019 - which embody the four key principles of the reforms.

The most urgent of these principles relates to the creation of "independent anti-doping, integrity and disciplinary functions", which would be set in motion by the first of the two constitution models.

The 2019 Constitution model would set in place the remaining three principles, one of which involves creating an Executive Board to deal with business, sponsorship contracts and planning which would allow a 26-strong Council to concentrate on sporting issues.

The other two principles relate to the creation of "a greater voice for athletes" and "a better gender balance" – the latter requiring two of the four vice-presidents to be female and a Council membership of 50 per cent women by 2023.

It will be the first gathering of all the member federations in Monaco since 1994.

On Friday (December 2) night nine-time Olympic sprinting champion Usain Bolt will hear if he has won his sixth IAAF World Athlete of the Year title - he is shortlisted along with South Africa’s Wayde van Niekerk, who won the Olympic 400 metres title in Rio and set a world record from the outside lane, and Britain’s Mo Farah, who retained his Olympic 5,000 and 10,000m titles this summer.

The three-shortlisted candidates for the women’s award are Ethiopia’s Almaz Ayana, who won the Olympic 10,000m title in a world record, Jamaica’s Olympic 100 and 200m champion Elaine Thompson, and Poland’s Anita Wlodarczyk, who retained her hammer throw title in Rio and twice broke the world record in 2016

Why should we ban doping in sport? Sigmund Loland, professor of sport philosophy at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (NSSS) and expert on doping and ethics, tried to find and explain the answers during his open lecture at HiMolde last Wednesday.

«Should performance enhancing drugs (PED) be banned in sport?»

The title of Sigmund Loland’s presentation deliberately used «PED» instead of «doping» since it lacks the negative connotation the latter holds. It indicated the aim of the whole presentation: to show an objective picture of this ever-important and relevant issue of today’s elite sport life.

The notion of «fairness» was introduced first. In that sense, the using of PED is regarded as cheating, violation of rules that an athlete should adhere to. The ban of using doping provides «institutional fairness», creating equal opportunity between athletes.

Health is another crucial factor when arguing on PED. It is well known that consuming PED is a major threat on the athlete’s health, and can significantly lower the potential life expectancy of the user. On the other hand, nowadays, professional sport in general is or can be detrimental to health, by the probability of suffering acute injuries, overtraining oneself, or going over the edge in risk sports, such as alpine skiing. Following the logic of banning doping due to its health hazards, competitive sport could be also banned.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is the most widely known organization focusing on doping. The organization is responsible for issuing an annual list of components that cannot be consumed by the athletes. They are also conducting regular tests to determine whether the sportsmen violated their regulations or not. In their code, they describe the definition of doping rule violation: doping means that there is «(1) scientific evidence or experience which demonstrates that the substance or method has the potential to enhance or enhances sport performance; (2) medical evidence or experience suggests that the use of the substance or method represents an actual or potential health risk to the athlete; (3) the use of the substance or the method violates the spirit of sport.» (WADA Code, 2015, p. 30.)

As Loland argued, the first two points could be violated just by being a competitive athlete in contemporary top-level sport. The «spirit of sport» in point no. 3 consists of many things according to WADA (2015, p. 14), like «ethics, fair play and honesty, health, excellence in performance, character and education, fun and joy, teamwork, dedication and commitment, respect for rules and laws, respect for self and other participants, courage, community and solidarity».

The next part of the presentation was about the social logic of sports, by which we measure, rank and compare competitors due to their athletic performance. Thus by definition, sport is looking for «a particular kind of human inequality». Sigmund Loland asked the relevant question: which of these inequalities should be compensated for, or eliminated? By his «normative structure» definition, the ones «for which individuals cannot be held responsible» (2002).

The pro-PED side of the lecture accentuated that there should be fairness in competition, equal rights and laws for each competitor, but there should not be anyone to whom competition regulations do not apply. Many liberal sport philosophers argue in favour of PED legalization, thinking of nature as «raw material», for example Savulescu (2007). It would mean, in a way, the «merging of the organic and the technological». Others stressed the importance of «progress and fairness» (Tamburrini 2000), and seeing sport as «spectacle and aesthetics» (Barthes 1972, Gebauer 2000). However, most of the stakeholders are against the legalization, even those – or especially those – who are using PED, since they would lose the competitive advantage that they are currently enjoying.

The audience could also hear the counter-PED arguments. The most important one was probably the «natural» way of doing sport. By allowing doping, sport would lose its natural component, the «chance, luck, and merit», by using drugs as «short-cuts» instead of hard work and talent to reach the athlete’s goals. Sports, according to that point of view, are «the virtuous development of natural talents» (Murray 2009), and it demonstrates human excellence.

All in all, contemporary sport is facing great challenges by the usage of PED and the technical and technological improvements that occur in the area. There is a need of «revitalization of the health and fairness arguments». WADA should also revitalize its «rationale for a PED ban», in case the implementation seems possible and cost-efficient. It is, in Loland’s words, «a challenge of line drawing».

Those who attended this open lecture gained a great insight of the doping topic that proved to be both complex and something that is worth arguing about.

Amplio programa antidopaje en los Juegos Bolivarianos de Iquique 2016 30 nov 2016

Los Juegos Bolivarianos de Iquique 2016 (Chile) están contando con un amplio programa antidopaje organizado por la Comisión Antidopaje chilena con la colaboración de las agencias de Paraguay, Venezuela y Panamá

Durante los días de competición, que comenzaron el pasado 24 de noviembre y se prolongarán hasta el próximo 3 de diciembre, doce oficiales de la Comisión chilena, tres invitados de Paraguay, uno de Venezuela y uno de Panamá, junto con un grupo de diez voluntarios, participarán en la realización de controles antidopaje en las diferentes pruebas.

Bajo el mando de la Comisión Médica de la Organización Deportiva Bolivariana (ODEBO) y de la Comisión Antidopaje de Chile se tomarán alrededor de 160 muestras antidopaje que serán enviadas para su análisis al Laboratorio de Control del Dopaje de París.

En los Juegos Bolivarianos de Iquique participan once países (siete países miembros de la ODEBO y cuatro países invitados). El país anfitrión, Chile, tendrá la mayor delegación con 163 deportistas en 13 deportes; seguido de Venezuela con 147 en 13 deportes; Perú con 135 (11); Colombia con 94 (11); Ecuador con 90 (13); Paraguay con 58 (7); Panamá con 34 (4); El Salvador con 30 (6); Bolivia (4) y Guatemala (6) con 20 atletas; y, República Dominicana con 16 (6).

La programación de los Juegos reúne competiciones en 13 deportes: aguas abiertas, actividades subacuáticas, balonmano playa, canotaje, esquí náutico, fútbol playa, remo, rugby playa, surf, tenis playa, triatlón, vela y voleibol playa.
