Present Progressive TenseLesson: The Present Progressive Tense Objective: grammar practice 

I. Form be (am, is, are) + present participle (verb + ing) 

I + am + verb + ing He / She / It + is + verb + ing You / We / They + are + verb + ing 

Verb drill: 1. talk = am/is/are talking 2. run = am/is/are running 3. cook = 4. write = 5. pray = 6. travel = 7. apply = 8. drive = 9. listen = 10. read = 11. go = 12. boil =

II. Functions

Use the present progressive/continuous tense for: 

1. Any action that is progressive or being done at the moment 

Examples: I am attending an English Channel class right now. We are sailing towards a remote island. They are eating lunch in the kitchen at the moment. Howard is thinking of throwing a surprise birthday party for his father. 

2. Future actions that will happen in a given time Example: We are going to travel abroad next year. I am meeting my friends in an hour.

The senior students are not graduating until the end of March.

In group work:

A) Bring a poster with a scene including pople doing different activities

B) Bring two flash cards for each member in the group with an action

The poster is going to be used for the whole class asking to the student to describe what a specific person is doing.

The flash cards are going to be used in small groups asking to the student to describe what a specific person is doing.

CONCLUSIONES

Con estas actividades se pretende acercar al alumno a la temática del

Present progressive, la consolidación se tendrá en el momento en que el alumno

manifieste su competencia en el manejo del tema al presentar una exposición del

tema utilizando el lenguaje y las expresiones propias de este contenido.

Queda pendiente el desarrollo de más actividades que se manejarán en lo

individual y que se desarrollarán en ejercicios en páginas web relacionadas con

este tema.
