Mas comensales y ms soldados

Por qu este ttulo? Porque en estos das muchos chicos han recibido la comunin, lo

que significa ms invitados a la Mesa del Seor; y otros recibirn la confirmacin que los har

soldados de Cristo, como tambin propagadores y defensores de la fe.

Das atrs, 19 chicos de la escuela hicieron la primera comunin; este sbado hemos

tenido las primeras comuniones de 231 chicos de CCD; esta semana tendremos la confirmacin

de 134 chicos. Tambin, tenemos que recordar que en la Vigilia Pascual 10 personas hicieron la

primera comunin y 15 recibieron la confirmacin.

No quera dejar pasar este momento, que es tan importante para la vida de la parroquia,

para felicitar y dirigir unas palabras a aquellos que recibieron la comunin y confirmacin.

Recibir la confirmacin y la comunin no significa que ustedes ya cumplieron con una

formalidad cristiana, como si fuera un ttulo que han recibido y que despus dejan de venir a la

Iglesia.

Los sacramentos de iniciacin no son ttulos que uno obtiene y luego se archivan para

seguir una vida alejada de las gracias de los sacramentos. Justamente, son una iniciacin; ellos

son el comienzo de la vida cristiana.

Los que han recibido la comunin por primera vez, no significa la nica y ltima. Al

contrario, tienen que recibir cuantas veces puedan a Jesucristo. Nunca con tanta insistencia

Jesucristo nos movi hacer algo, como recibir la Eucarista. En el discurso de la Eucarista- Juan

6- Jesucristo les prometi lo mejor de lo mejor si reciben con fe su cuerpo y su Sangre: la vida

eterna, la resurreccin final, la abundancia de vida, la vida de Dios. Nunca el Seor hizo tantaspromesas juntas.

La gracia de la confirmacin, por otro lado, como dice el catecismo de la Iglesia, les da a

ustedes un crecimiento y profundidad a la gracia bautismal; los introduce ms profundamente en

la realidad de hijos de Dios, los une firmemente a Cristo, aumenta los dones del Espritu Santo,

los une mas a la Iglesia y, finalmente, les da una fuerza especial para difundir la fe mediante las

obras y palabras y no sentir jams vergenza de su fe.

Todos estos efectos se hacen realidad si ustedes ayudan a la gracia del sacramento

poniendo todo lo que est de su parte. Por eso, ahora, tienen que interesarse mas en profundizar

la fe; tienen que involucrarse activamente en algn movimiento de la Iglesia para hacerla crecer;

tienen que rezar ms y mejor a Dios Padre. En una palabra a hacer mejores cristianos, pues como

deca San Jernimo: Cristiano no se nace, sino que se hace.

Queridos chicos que estos das sean de una gran alegra espiritual para ustedes y en el

seno de su familia. Pidan la gracia de ser fieles Hijos de Dios y de la Iglesia. Por mi parte, pido

por su perseverancia y que Dios les colme de sus bendiciones.

More guests and soldiers

Why this title? Because many children received the first communion, which means that

there are more guests for the table of the Lord and others will receive this week the confirmation,

which will make you soldiers of Christ, propagators and defenders of your faith and the Churchs

faith.

Some days ago, 19 children from the school made the first communion; this Saturday we

had the first communion for 231CCD children; this week 134 children will be receiving the

sacrament of confirmation. Also, we have to remember that at Easter Vigil ten people received

the first communion and 15 the confirmation oil.

I dontwant to let this occasion pass without comment. It is so important for the parishs

life for me to say some words and congratulate those who received the first communion and

confirmation.

Receiving the communion and confirmation doesntmean that you fulfilled a

requirement, as if it were a diploma that you receive and then you no longer come to Church.

The sacraments of initiation -Baptism, communion and confirmation- are not certificates to be

kept, gather dust and then make a life far from the church and the sacraments. Really, they are

the beginning of the Christian life; now you have enough spiritual maturity to star growing in

your Christian lives.

Receiving the Eucharist for the first time doesnt mean the only and last time. Instead,

you should receive the Lord in the Eucharist as many times as you can. Indeed, Jesus insistently

urged us to receive the Eucharist as many times as possible, more so than anything else. In the

sermon of the bread of life- John chapter 6- Jesus promised you the best of the bests if you

receive his body and blood with faith and devotion: eternal life, abundant life, resurrection of

your bodies, the same life as God He did this in order to draw us to him.

On other hand, the confirmation will give you growth and depth in the grace of baptism.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church says that confirmation introduces you more deeply into

the reality of being children of God; it bonds you firmly to Jesus Christ; it increases the gifts of

the Holy Spirit; it unites more you to the Church; finally, it gives you a special force to spread

the faith through your deeds, words and example and not be ashamed of your faith.

All these effects will come to be true if you help the grace of the sacrament by doing yourbest. So, from now on, you should be eagerly interested in deeping your faith; you should get

actively involved in the church to make her grow; you should pray more often and more deeply

to be closer to God Your Father. In a few words, you should aspire to become better Christians.

Saint Jerome said: You become Christian, you are not born Christian.

Dear children may you have spiritual joy these days for yourselves and your families.

Ask God for the grace for you to be faithful children of God and the Church. From my part, I ask

God to give you perseverance to be authentic Christians. May God give you abundant blessings.
