Leave the village and follow the BV-3008 road towards Sant Joan de Vilatorrada during 80 meters. The route starts with a narrow trail, unsuitable for bikes, which you’ll find on the right side of the road. The trail takes you to the Fonollosa stream. You’ll find the first junction at the Pou del Masoveret (the Sharecropper’s Well). From there, go up the stream along a trail that follows the field boundary walls that used to delineate the fields and some cultivated gardens. The trail turns right and goes up-hill across a small bridge that takes you directly to the Querol oak. At the end of both routes, you will use this same path to go back to your starting point. As you leave the Pou del Masoveret, you will find signs that indicate the route up to a point where you will have to cross the stream and follow it on its right side. The trail passes through an old canal that will take you to a unique dry-stone building that the elders call the Canal mill (molí del Rec). The trail passes in front of the mill and climbs gently between the bushes and in the woods that hide old terraces. The trail meets the rural track that comes from Piasa del Raval, which is another starting point for this hike. You have reached the Fassina Bridge. The trail climbs gently uphill. You will find two junctions, continue straight. The second one takes you on the Can Xamal 2.7 km shorter loop and brings you back to the Querol oak. If you want to go on the longest loop, keep going and follow the track up to a third junction. Take the track on the right. There are few vehicles on this track, which turns south southwest until it passes by an old stone-made wine vat named Tina de Cal Pere Negre. Continue west until the track meets the main track that connects the Grau de Fals area to Fonollosa. Right after you join this track, you will catch a glimpse of the junction to access Can Xamal and of the stone press that characterizes the area. Take the path to the left toward the Can Xamal viewpoint. Turn right before getting there. Follow a stretch of pine forest that borders the fields. This portion of the hike is very nice. You will catch sight of the field boundary walls and winemakers’ dry stone shelters until you meet again the main track that goes from False to Fonollosa. Follow the track for a short distance and turn right on a different track that goes down and leads to a large clearing. Go to the right again and pass by a water tank. From this point you will catch a glimpse of the majestic Querol oak. The trail passes between the Querol house and a shelter and goes down towards the Fonollosa stream. Cross the stream on a small and narrow bridge and you will be back at the Pou del Masoveret. Follow the trail you had previously taken back to the village of Fonollosa.
